Am Burras Acrach

At circle time we read Am Burras Acrach. We all had our own little Burras and passed pictures of the food in the story around for them to nibble as we read the story. You can watch a You Tube video of the story here.

At craft time we made a paper plate Burras, and some of us then stuck them onto duilleagan.

Two weeks ago we talked about how old everyone was.

For craft we decorated our own ages.

Last week at Cròileagan we made some little egg box Damhan-Allaidh.

An t-earrach

Last week we were looking at some Spring words.

At craft time we made a pretty Spring tree (craobh) with tissue paper stuck on for blossom (flùran).



Our vocabulary was:

On our second week back after the holidays we made pictures of our houses. There were so many lovely, colourful pictures of different houses made.

Mè, mè, a chaora dhubh

On our first week back after Easter we made some little sheep pictures using lots of cotton wool.



At song time we sang Mè, mè, a chaora dhubh (Baa, baa, black sheep)

Aodainn Annasach agus Sgàthan

We looked at another of our Bookbug books last week - Aodainn Annasach.



For our craft we made a little mirror - sgàthan (ska-han) - from shiny card and decorated it.

This week we were looking at another of our Bookbug books - Bròg is Ad, Cò leis a tha iad?



At craft time we made some beautiful, glittery crowns, like one worn in the book...



Our phrases were:

Bòtannan Ùr

Last week we talked about Bòtannan Ùr - New Boots.

At craft time we coloured in some lovely colourful pictures of wellies.



Our phrases were:

A bheil bòtannan ùr ort? - Are you wearing new boots?

Cuir ort do bhòtannan - Put on your boots

Cuir dhìot do bhòtannan - Take off your boots.

Dè an t-aodach a th' ort? - What clothes are you wearing?

To finish off with, we learned the poem Bòtannan Mòra at circle time. We stamped our hands on our legs as we said it, like they were big feet in wellies stomping along.

Dathan

We revised our colour learning by making some very colourful Rainbow Fish.

We learned that there are two  ways to ask what colour the fish is, depending on where you are from!

Dè an dath a tha air an t-iasg ? --  What colour is the fish?

Tha dath ……air an t-iasg   --   The fish is coloured ………

Dè an dath a tha an t-iasg ?  ---  what  colour is the fish?

Tha an t-iasg …….          ---                The fish is………..

Buidhe  =Yellow

Uaine  = Green

Dearg   =   Red

Pinc   =  Pink

Purpaidh  =   Purple

 Orains  =   Orange

 Gorm  =   Blue

Liath  = Grey/Lilac

Latha Bhalantine

For the week before Valentine's day we made cards to give to our loved ones.

We used the phrases:

’S math a rinn thu!   --   You did well!

Thoir dhomh do làmh --  Give me your hand

And we learned the song 'Tha Mairi bheag a fhalbh dhan sgoil'. This is sung to the tune of The Mulberry Bush, and the words are below.

Toilichte agus brònach

It's been far too long since we kept up to date with regular posts about what we have been learning each week at Cròileagan and so a new year seems a good time to change that!

Last week and this week we have been learning just a little bit about emotions.

We made some double sided paper plate clown faces.

One side was toilichte (taw-leech-e) = happy..........

.....and the other side was brònach (braw-noch) = sad.

This week we also learned the question...

Ciamar a tha thu? (kimar a ha oo?) = how are you?

...and some possible answers...

Tha mi toilichte (ha mee taw-leech-e) = I am happy

Tha mi brònach (ha mee braw-noch) = I am sad

Tha mi fuar (ha mee fooar) = I am cold

Tha mi teth (ha mee che) = I am hot

Tha mi sgith (ha mee skee) = I am tired

Tha mi trang (ha mee trang) = I am busy
