Òrain Nollaig

This is our Christmas song sheet. You can listen to all of the songs on our Soundcloud page. Some of the tunes will no doubt be familiar to you. Why not give them a go and be ready to sing aloud at our Christmas sessions and party this week!

Hi all,

This week we will continue to look at the Gaelic names of different body parts that we introduced last week. We will sing Uilleam Òrdag (listen here) and Ceann, Gualainn, Glùin is Cas (listen here) again. At craft time we will be drawing around and cutting out the shape of our hands.

You can hear the pronunciation of the vocabulary here. We will be singing Priob-priob Rionnag Bheag which is a Gaelic version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We will have moons and shiny stars to stick at the craft table.

 This week we will be learning some vocabulary for morning routines. You can hear the pronunciations here. We will sing Nigh d' aodann salach which goes through several of the phrases verse by verse and is handy to sing at home as you get ready in the mornings. There will also be corresponding pictures to cut and stick in order.

Our song for the week is Dathan aig a' Bhogha-Fhrois which you can listen to here. (In this version they sing "gorm" which is blue instead of "liath" which is light blue or grey.)

(They sing "gorm" where we sing "liath" which you can see in the Duilleag Fiosrachaidh are both words for blue.)

Fàilte Air Ais!

It was lovely to see so many of you last week. We enjoyed catching up with old pals, and meeting new ones. We are looking forward to seeing even more of you this week.

Our first topic this term is numbers (àireamhan), which we will continue with this week. Below you can see this week's Duilleag Fiosrachaidh (information sheet). We'll be singing Còig Tunnagan Beaga, which many of you know, and we'll be learning how to ask and tell our age (well, some of us anyway!). You can find the sound files for the vocabulary here, and you can hear the song being sung here.

Look out for the new section on our Duilleag Fiosrachaidh - Abairtean Feumail (useful phrases). These are phrases that you can practice using during Cròileagan sessions, and at home. We will change these on a termly basis, so you'll have lots of time to get using them.

Our session times have changed this term, and we are re-introducing our Tuesday morning sessions. You can find details of session times and booking in all the usual places, but our weekly timetable will look like this:

Àireamhan

Fàilte Air Ais!

Welcome back to the new term. We hope that everyone enjoyed the summer, and got to practice some of the Gaelic holiday vocabulary we learned in June.

We are going to start back by learning our numbers in Gaelic this week and next. Below you will find the Duilleag Fiosrachaidh (information sheet) that you will get at this week's sessions. We are going to be singing an old favourite to practice our numbers, and our craft will go along with the song too. You can find the sound files for the vocabulary here, and you can hear the song being sung here.

You'll also see that we have introduced a new section on our Duilleag Fiosrachaidh - Abairtean Feumail (useful phrases). These are phrases that you can practice using during Cròileagan sessions, and at home. These will change only termly, to give you a chance to get lots of use out of them.

Our session times have changed this term, and we are re-introducing our Tuesday morning sessions. You can find details of session times and booking in all the usual places, but our weekly timetable will look like this:

Bliadhna Mhath Ùr! Happy New Year!

Welcome back to Cròileagan. We hope you all had a lovely relaxing break over Christmas. It's a new year and a new month, and to start us off in 2022, we are going to learn the days of the week and the months of the year. We'll learn a couple of new songs this week and next, and make some day and month charts you can stick up at home to practise your new vocabulary.
