Body Parts

Last week and this week we have been learning about the Gaelic words for different parts of the body.

For craft last week we decorated some little people and then added labels onto the correct parts of their bodies.

Some of the little people looked very fancy!

This week we are colouring in pictures of people and making them into jigsaws.

The words that we are learning are:

Falt (Hair)

Làmh (Hand)

Gàirdean (Arm)

Cas (Leg)

Cas (Foot)

Òrdag (Toe)

Glùin (Knee)

Uileann (Elbow)

Corrag (Finger)

Ceann (Head)

Gualainn (Shoulders)

Stamag (Stomach)

Broilleach (Chest)

Amhach (Neck)

You can download and print a copy of these words here.

At song time we sang an old favourite - Ceann,  Gualainn, Gluin 's Cas - and if you want a little print out of the words for that you can find them here.

More weather phrases

Last week we continued with our weather topic and learned a few phrases that are useful for talking about what sort of day it is.

For craft we made big fluffy clouds, by using lots of cotton wool, and added some raindrops to the bottom of them with strips of tissue paper.

Last week was one of the many May Monday holidays, so if you normally attend a Monday session then you haven't missed out on our phrases sheet as you can download it here. Also useful for anyone who might have missed last week's sessions. Or misplaced their copy!

You can hear how to pronounce these phrases, and a whole lot more weather phrases, on this page here.

We learned a lovely new song, which goes to the tune of Frere Jacques, and is about both sunny weather and rainy weather. You can hear the song by clicking here and clicking on the first song. You can also download a copy of the words here.

Hopefully the phrases we have learned should cover all the bases for the many different types of weather we can expect right through the summer!
